MAREDISE
currently under development
This is a pluridisciplinary and expanding project. It aims to document and present a fictional world through artificial anthropological art works in a way that brings its spectator to connect and care due to the legitimate and tangible nature of the pieces, resulting in blurring the line between reality and fiction.
The work mixes alternative narration forms with philosophical speech. This project tells and depicts a fictional science fiction world in a non linear fashion across different mediums, primarily paintings and sculpture. Through portraiture, paintings of the body and characters, sculptures of fictional technologies, clothing apparels or even rendition of the fictional environment and its architecture, the work documents step by step a setting, its technology, culture and people. Those elements end up being showcased through means similar to what one would find in a museum.
Aside, the works often hint towards underlying topics such as the anticipation of death and our mortality, as well as the theme of existentialism.
Through relatable topics, the spectator connects to the land and it’s people.
MOON OF DUST, WITH REMAINS TO COME
STAINED AND FOREVER LIT SKY
WE’RE ALREADY ALL GONE
THE SKY IS ALWAYS LIT, BUT THE MARBLE TILES BELLOW ONES FEET ARE STILL MORE LIKELY TO BLIND YOU.
AND THE REDS… THEY ARE EVERYWHERE. FOREVER SERVING AS A REMINDER, THAT THE END IS COMING. THAT THE END DID IN FACT COME.
THOSE ARE ONLY REMAINS, REMAINS OF THE GUILTY ONES WHO AT SOME POINT WALKED THIS MOON.
THEIR MEMORIES CAUGHT IN THE GUSTS OF WIND, MERGING WITH THE CLOUDS OF DUST.
ORIGINALLY A PLURIDISCIPLINARY WORK, MAREDISE NOW CONSISTS PRIMARILY OF PAINTINGS AND SHORT TEXTS.
THIS FOREVER EXPANDING BODY OF WORKS AIMS TO NARRATE LIFE ON THE FICTIONAL MOON THAT IS MAREDISE.
